The Society of Midland Authors: 2022 Children's Reading Round Table Children's Nonfiction Award Honoree

On May 26, Kao Kalia Yang send me a picture of an unexpected award: the Society of Midland Authors 2022 Children's Reading Round Table in the Children's Nonfiction category. Yang Warriors was awarded an honoree for Kao Kalia Yang's lyrical and poignant writing. It was a wonderful honor to see Yang Warriors among the list of incredible picture books from the Midwest. Congratulations, Kalia!

Nokomis Montessori Family Event June 2, 2022
It was a tremendous honor for faculties and students to invite me to serve at my in-school residency at Nokomis Montessori North (my old school - alumnus 1999) back in February of 2022. In addition, I was a special guest at the Nokomis Family Event in which I donated two original pieces of Yang Warriors signed by Kao Kalia Yang and me. I had a wonderful time getting to know the faculties, students and families. In the pictures (below) are my little helpers who assisted me with the event and communicating with their fellow classmates and parents. I give them my huge thanks! And thank you to Nokomis Montessori, I love you, and I cannot wait to come back!
